Director - Shri Anurag Sachdev, Executive Director, Indian Oil is heading the Shipping, Procurement and Contracts verticals of the Indian flagship energy major. A mechanical engineer by qualification and an avid sports enthusiast, he joined Indian Oil in 1993. Over a distinguished career spanning more than 32 years, he has held several strategic and leadership positions across the organization.

Mr. Sachdeva has worked across almost all verticals in the Materials and Contracts Department. Under his leadership, after commencing operations in 2016, the Paradip Materials Division became fully functional and successfully completed project handovers. He also oversees all chemicals and materials for ongoing operations.

At RHQ, he has played a vital role in the digitalization of the file system through the implementation of the e-Nivida platform. In the Central Procurement Cell, he has overseen the procurement of materials across all nine refineries, including successful procurements through the GeM portal.

One of his most notable contributions was the establishment of an independent ship chartering desk in 2005 — a pioneering initiative and the first of its kind by any oil and gas company in India. This strategic move laid the foundation for Indian Oil’s emergence as one of the largest and most preferred charterers globally. Today Indian Oil is chartering close to 500 vessels per annum under the innovative stewardship of Mr. Sachdev.

Under Mr. Sachdev’s visionary leadership, Indian Oil continues to navigate complex geopolitical dynamics in the shipping, supply, and logistics domains with confidence and agility. As Indian Oil stands as a cornerstone of India’s future energy ecosystem, Mr. Sachdev, with his steadfast dedication and keen strategic acumen, is playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s energy logistics roadmap for the future.
